Aqua Mist Fire Shield

Writing

Forty years of watching what ends up in water, air, and soil — and what it does to us — turned into three books in progress.

These are based on real events. Some characters, names, places, and dialogue have been changed for the story. What has not been changed is the subject: the environmental problems and the solutions Sam has spent his career recommending. He is looking for collaborators — writers, editors, and publishers — for all three.

Non-fiction · in progress

Your Daily Dose of Cancer

An engineer's account of the chemicals, chlorine by-products, solvents, PFAS, and heavy metals that reach us through water, food, and air — and how contaminants damage cells over decades. Written for readers who want to understand where their exposure actually comes from and what reduces it.

Fiction · in progress

Polluted

A novel drawn from the industrial sites, water plants, and communities Sam worked in over four decades. A detailed portrait of a country's pollution problem and the cycle of illness it feeds.

Children's book · in progress

EnviroWizard

A chapter book that introduces young readers to clean water and clean air as the basis of everything alive — and to the idea that the best solutions come after you understand the problem.

Essays and topics in the works

Short pieces Sam is drafting, each tied to something he has measured or built.

  • Why pore size, not marketing, decides what a water or air filter can do
  • Reverse osmosis: the drain line nobody talks about, and what stripping minerals does to water
  • PFAS: fully soluble, not removed by city treatment, and now found in everyday products
  • Why aquifers shrink: we take water from one place, use it, and pipe it miles away
  • Airline cabin filters, nail-salon solvents, and other exposures that are easy to reduce
  • Fire prevention in homes: the case for a spray-and-recycle system
